The No Make-up Look: How to in 4 steps

There are some who make themselves look insta-ready with the help of make-up. And then there are others who prefer the no make-up look over artificial perfection to be beautiful without makeup. It’s time we take the no make-up trend serious! The motto is: Skincare as make-up. The magic formula: K-Beauty. We'll show you the Korean way of mastering the no make-up look!

With these 4 steps you can soon say bye-bye to make-up and hello to radiant skin:

1. PERMANENTLY EVEN COMPLEXION INSTEAD OF LAYERS OF CONCEALER & MAKEUP

In Korea, people swear by skincare products that give you a perfect complexion without make-up. So-called tone-up products are an absolute must-have there. As Koreans prefer a very fair complexion, these tone-up products have active ingredients that visually brighten the skin tone. Especially popular are BB creams with such a tone-up function. There are also colour correcting products that use certain pigments to combat skin discoloration (e.g. green for redness and orange for bluish dark circles). Instead of a concealer, you can opt for an eye cream that contains fine light-reflecting pigments. It minimizes dark circles and wrinkles immediately (and also over time).

2. NATURALLY MATTTIFIED SKIN INSTEAD OF POWDER OVERLOAD

Mattifying skincare products can give the skin a long-lasting matte look that still looks natural. While a face powder can make the face look overly matte and dull or even clog pores, mattifying skincare products reduce the sebum excess and can restore the oil-water balance of the skin over time. So your skin stays matte during the day without looking dry and dull.

3. NATURAL HEALTHY GLOW INSTEAD OF ARTIFICIAL SHEEN

As a beauty lover, the glow trend has certainly not gone past you. The shops are full of foundations, sprays and powders that give the skin the popular glow. Instead of giving the face an artificial glow, Koreans prefer the #iwokeuplikethis glow which is not created by make-up but purely by skincare. Be it with the 10 step routine or the diligent usage of masks - a proper skin care routine leads you to a permanently glowing complexion. This kind of healthy glow is not the result of shimmering color pigments, but of intensely moisturizing and nourishing active ingredients. Spoil your skin regularly with a well thought-out skincare routine as natural everyday makeup and it will thank you with a radiant glow.

4. SPF INSTEAD OF HIGHLIGHTER

Use products with SPF (sun protection factor) of different strengths and you can ditch the highlighter and bronzer from now on. Make-up artists (including Beyoncé’s) are fans of this technique, often referred to as "sunscreen sculpting". How is it done? First spread a sunscreen with a low SPF of 15 or 20 across the whole face to protect it from sun exposure. Then apply a sunscreen with a high SPF of 50 or higher under the eyes, on the cheekbones and on the bridge of the nose - exactly in the areas where a highlighter is usually applied. The parts of the face with higher SPF automatically appear brighter and highlighted. Many sun lotions with a high protection factor leave a white cast. Normally this white cast is unwanted but for this method it’s quite convenient. Used correctly, it sets extra bright highlights on the desired facial areas.

No Make-up Look in 4 steps:

Step 1: tone-up or color correcting cream for a moisturized, even complexion

Step 2: mattifying caring products to avoid excess sebum

Step 3: long-lasting glow through persistent skincare routine

Step 4: sunscreen to set highlights and keep the skin wrinkle-free in the long run
