glimyu Ingredient Bible (Part 3): Niacinamide

What is Niacinamide?

Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3. Among Korean brands, this active ingredient can be found in a wide variety of products, but above all in serums and creams.

What can Niacinamide do?

A lot! It is able to protect the skin from environmental influences and to strengthen the skin barrier. It also helps maintain moisture. It additionally has sebum-regulating properties and can help against enlarged pores. Probably the best-known property of Niacinamide is that it can correct hyperpigmentation (of e.g. acne scars) by lightening these dark areas and thus evening out the complexion. What’s more: It is a low-irritation ingredient and is therefore suitable for all skin types.
